Nearly two years have gone by since my last post, and I think it’s about time for an update. Here I sit in the Denver airport on my way back from the AFA Leaders Conference, and we’re already at the 2018 midterms. While politics isn’t the forefront of my blog, it has been a central facet of my personal interests during the past two years. Conveniently enough it was present in my last post due to the recent upset many in our country had just felt. I digress, but relish in how much I have learned on my PhD journey in addition to politics during the past two years. A few themes emerge:
Time is never static. And though it may feel like it’s passing fast or slow it’s only a cause of the quantity of meaningful things happening in life at the moment of the snapshot.
Diverse relationships are the true currency of progress; and
Knowledge is power.
Time is Relative I can hardly find a moment to jot down my thoughts before the next obligation comes knocking, but I know there are great things afoot. In two years, I have felt time move extremely slow, but I have arrived here on the blink of an eye. Diversity IS Progress Working with the Cultivating Change Foundation has strengthened my resolve for appreciating inherent differences in people that make the world a better place. There are bound to be people who express adverse opinion, but my experience in the past two years lends me to believe those people have no capacity for meaningful action. Stay the course, and kindle meaningful relationships in your life to overcome. Knowledge is Power Sometimes I fail to remember how much my mind has expanded in the past year for sake of all the milestones along the way. However, in the process of working on my dissertation I realize how much I’ve grown. Although it will be a never ending journey, recent publications have helped me realize that there are some great minds in education, and that I don’t have to do it all myself. Brevity is a binding product of the times, but I shall return. Now enjoy some photos.
